Free 301 and 302 Redirect Checker

Paste one URL or a whole list. See every redirect hop, its status code and where it ends up, with plain English notes on chains, loops and temporary redirects.

One URL per line, up to 50. To confirm a migration, add the expected destination after a comma, for example old-url, new-url.

Each URL is requested from our server, following up to 10 redirects without a browser cache. Only public websites can be checked, and nothing is stored.

What this redirect checker shows

For each URL it follows the redirects one step at a time, the way a browser or Googlebot would, and lists every hop with its HTTP status code, response time and destination. It stops at the final page, a loop, an error or after ten hops.

How to use it

  1. Paste one URL per line. Bare domains like example.com.au are checked over https.
  2. To test a migration, add the expected new URL after a comma on each line.
  3. Review anything marked Issue or Review, then download the CSV for your developer.

What good redirects look like

  • One hop. Each old URL goes straight to its final page with a single 301.
  • Permanent codes for permanent moves. Use 301 or 308, not 302 or 307.
  • One version of your site. http and https, www and non-www all land on the same address.
  • Relevant destinations. Old pages point at the closest matching new page, not the homepage.

Common redirect problems

  • Chains, where http goes to https, then to www, then to a trailing slash version. Each extra hop slows the page and wastes crawl budget.
  • Loops, where two rules send visitors back and forth until the browser gives up.
  • Temporary 302s left in place after a redesign, so Google keeps the old URL.
  • Old pages redirected to the homepage, which Google often treats as a soft 404.

Planning a new site? Use our Redirect Map Builder to match old and new URLs first, then check the live redirects here after launch. Every Launch North website build includes redirects from your old site, and our SEO team can fix redirect and indexing problems on any site.
